About The Position

Great Basin Staffing is hiring an Electrical Planning Foreman (think BIM Foreman / Precon Field Planner ) to own the plan study and planning responsibilities during the preconstruction phase —until a Site Superintendent is established for the project. This is a high-impact role for someone who can translate drawings/specs into buildable field plans : shop drawings, prefab-ready details, accurate material takeoffs, install sequencing, and quality control—then hand off and partner with the superintendent and field leadership once the project is live. If you’re a journeyman-level electrician who understands “how it gets built,” and you’re strong with Bluebeam, Excel, plan review, and NEC-driven decision making , this role is made for you.

Requirements

2+ years as a Journeyman Electrician .
Foreman leadership on 2–3 projects or 2+ years as an Electrical Detailer .
Familiarity with BIM or Design/Build electrical projects.
2+ years commercial electrical installation experience (data center exposure is a plus).
Intermediate computer skills; basic-to-intermediate Bluebeam proficiency.
Intermediate proficiency in Excel and Word.
Advanced working knowledge of the NEC .
Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans/specs and understand schedules.

Nice To Haves

Data center electrical experience (critical power, equipment rooms, dense distribution).
Experience with prefab workflows, standardized detail libraries, and field-driven BIM.
Experience coordinating with other trades for collision avoidance and routing feasibility.

Responsibilities

Perform plan study and produce field-ready install strategies before crews mobilize.
Review construction documents: plans, specs, schedules, submittals and identify gaps/conflicts early.
Develop route planning and installation intent for conduit, cable tray, branch distribution, equipment rooms , and typical commercial/DC electrical scope.
Produce buildable shop drawings and install details based on electrical drawings and field best practices.
Draft installation details and markups using Bluebeam (installation intent, routing, elevations, hangers/supports, penetrations).
Build prefab-ready detail sets and coordinate with prefabrication teams (where applicable).
Read and verify wiring schematics , one-lines, and equipment schedules.
Complete material takeoffs (MTOs) and worksheets using Excel with high accuracy.
Fill out required schedules, tracking logs, and planning documentation.
Track progress of planning deliverables and support updates through changing design conditions.
Collaborate with GCs, BIM Operators, PMs, Superintendents, Foremen, and Electrical Detailers .
Participate in coordination discussions and help resolve constructability issues.
Provide QC on deliverables and exchange constructive feedback to raise standards.
After superintendent handoff, continue supporting plan review, sequencing, and issue resolution.
Manage planning work across multiple projects when assigned.
Contribute to improving internal standards and processes.
