About The Position

Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking Mechanical & Electrical Commissioning Start Up Superintendents for projects across the United States. This role involves leading daily safety meetings, planning and overseeing commissioning activities for major mechanical systems, conducting system walk-downs, supervising functional testing, diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues, collaborating with various stakeholders, monitoring project progress, maintaining documentation, and directing field teams.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in pre-commissioning and commissioning of large-scale mechanical systems, including HVAC, hydronic systems, process cooling, and related infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing field teams through commissioning and turnover phases.
  • Strong working knowledge of completions software and system readiness workflows used in mechanical commissioning.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and system documentation.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Experience working in fast-paced industrial or large-scale construction environments.
  • Ability to travel and support projects across the United States as required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily safety meetings and enforce strict adherence to mechanical safety procedures, including LOTO, permits, and site safety protocols.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities for major mechanical systems including pumps, piping, rotating equipment, HVAC, and related infrastructure.
  • Conduct system walk-downs to identify deficiencies, verify installation completeness, and ensure readiness for testing and turnover.
  • Supervise and support functional testing activities such as flushing, hydrotesting, equipment alignment, leak detection, and mechanical run-ins.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical system issues and implement corrective actions throughout all commissioning phases.
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, operations, vendors, and OEM representatives to ensure system readiness and performance requirements are met.
  • Monitor project and system progress while providing clear, timely updates to commissioning and project leadership.
  • Maintain complete commissioning documentation including checklists, test records, redlines, punch lists, and turnover packages.
  • Lead and direct field teams of approximately 20 craft technicians through commissioning, testing, and turnover activities.
