Job Summary: -- Responsible for operation, replacement, repair and maintenance of building related mechanical, electrical, Lighting and control systems, as well as General Maintenance support in a large campus environment. Work may involve the lifting of heavy equipment and apparatus and may be performed in areas of extreme heat or cold. Receives and responds to service calls, takes immediate action to resolve emergency situations or system breakdowns. Oversees assigned utility mechanics, routine and preventive maintenance work.

Requirements

  • Electrical Trades or Trade School certification.
  • Minimum of five (3) years’ experience in Electrical maintenance in a commercial environment.
  • Familiarity with operation of building auxiliary systems i.e. fire-life safety, and standby emergency generators.
  • Experience & proven ability to troubleshoot & repair building electrical systems
  • Ability to write, execute written and oral instructions and perform arithmetic calculations.
  • Valid driver’s license as required to drive any vehicles which may be assigned along with Driving skills with up to 1-1/2-ton truck.
  • Strong knowledge of safe work practices and procedures typical for maintenance operations
  • Ability to safely wear a respirator, climb ladders, enter confined spaces, lift heavy objects and perform other physically demanding tasks
  • Safely and skillfully use all types of related hand and power tools

Responsibilities

  • Operation, troubleshooting, replacement, repair, and maintenance of all related electrical, lighting and possibly control systems supporting, air handling units, pumps, motors, heat and exchangers.
  • Troubleshooting of Lighting / controls or electrical circuits.
  • Ability to bend conduit for new or repair of existing circuits.
  • Isolation, “safe off” and Lock Out / Tag Out systems to facilitate repairs.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks at times; replace ceiling tiles, repair or replace door hardware, locks, panic bars etc.
  • Assemble, install, repair, of existing Electrical systems.
  • Routine operation and inspection of emergency generator and associated components.
  • Requisition necessary material to complete required repairs.
  • Routine and preventive maintenance duties including adjusting Ground Lighting Inspections, Lighting Controls & Timers.
  • Inspect mechanical, electrical systems via tours & mechanical logs, operate switchgear, record inspections, and complete all necessary reports / paperwork.
  • Perform any additional duties on an as “required” basis where such duties are within the scope of contractual obligations.
