About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance & Controls Engineer to support plant operations in a heavy industrial environment. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical and automation systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production. The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of electrical maintenance (high-voltage systems) and controls/automation (PLC, HMI, VFDs) experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in a heavy industrial environment
  • Strong experience with electrical maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
  • Experience with VFDs, motor drives, and control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics independently
  • Experience working with 480V systems (higher voltage experience is a plus)
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems (PM/TPM)
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards (LOTO, OSHA practices)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SCADA or plant-level HMI systems
  • Exposure to SAP or maintenance management systems
  • Experience in high-voltage environments (e.g., 4160V systems)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a plant setting

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/TPM) on plant equipment
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, including motors, drives, and control panels
  • Maintain and improve equipment reliability and uptime
  • Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of plant equipment
  • Troubleshoot and support PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
  • Work with HMI/SCADA systems for monitoring and control
  • Configure and troubleshoot VFDs and motor drives
  • Assist in automation improvements and process optimization
  • Read, interpret, and update electrical schematics and drawings
  • Identify and implement process improvements and debottlenecking initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations and maintenance
  • Support SAP or similar systems for maintenance tracking (if applicable)
  • Ensure adherence to LOTO, arc flash, and safety protocols
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Participate in safety audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations
  • Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance technicians
  • Support planning and execution of maintenance activities
  • Work closely with supervisors to prioritize and schedule work
