Electrical Line Worker Intern Job Details This position provides interns exposure to industry fundamentals through field and office instruction, job shadowing, and closely supervised field activities. Safety awareness and safe work practices are prioritized throughout the program. Under direct supervision, interns assist and learn from experienced line workers while developing basic knowledge of electric distribution systems, tools, materials, and safety procedures. This is a temporary, training-focused position designed to support career exploration and skill development. Interns perform limited, non-hazardous tasks and are not assigned the full responsibilities of a journeyman or apprentice line worker. This is a part-time position (15–20 hours per week, up to 80 hours per month) with a flexible schedule within standard business hours (8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday) to accommodate academic and other commitments. Nueces Electric Cooperative (NEC) is more than a non-profit, customer-owned, at-cost electric utility.
