About The Position

To manage the Spring Grove Mill’s Electrical / Instrumentation & Process Automation Shops effectively encompassing the performance of maintenance, repair and installation of equipment in the assigned area of responsibility and other related duties as assigned. He/she ensures responsive and proactive maintenance support to all plant Operations partners by implementing sound work management processes. He/she is responsible for contributing to departmental budgeting, professional and technical development of his/her assigned salaried and hourly associates.

Requirements

  • Journeyman level certification in a state recognized apprentice program or equivalent work experience is desired.
  • Must have the ability to manage people.
  • Must have above average communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and appropriate precautions applicable to work assignments.
  • Ability to wear respirator safety equipment
  • Ability to wear protective clothing as required by prevailing conditions
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations for design, layouts, drawings, tolerances, fabrication, estimating and purchasing.
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply information from files, drawings, catalogs, reports and manuals.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Champions safety in every aspect of the position
  • Makes safety awareness part of their everyday communications
  • Represents the Maintenance Department in daily interactions with Operational Asset Teams
  • Actively participates in Daily Standard Work (Risk of The Shift, Daily Review of Production/Equipment performance, Maintenance Daily Briefing, Etc.)
  • Enforces/Coaches the required discipline within the Root Cause Failure Analysis Systems
  • Identify and completes projects as assigned
  • Maintains effective relationships with Maintenance Shops to promote Best Practices
  • Provides mentoring, training, and coaching as required
  • Ensures Environmental systems process awareness and compliance.
  • Must maintain effective working relationships with operations, other maintenance personnel, vendors, contractors and engineers.
  • Performs purchasing duties as needed through effective and efficient interface with Storeroom and Procurement personnel.
  • Responsible for next level conflict resolution and maintaining needed staffing levels and skill sets
  • Assure the implementation and completion of accident investigation / corrective action steps
  • Evaluate and schedule training needs on a routine basis for skills, apprenticeship program and safety training
  • Responsible for succession planning
  • Input to all annual outages
  • Accountable for discretionary spend
  • Input to Capital Budgeting Process
  • Revises work order backlog reports and actively engages in reducing the backlog
  • Recommends the replacement or addition of equipment to minimize maintenance costs and downtime
  • Understands and administers company policy.
  • Evaluates job feedback to improve future work
  • Must demonstrate good communication skills throughout the organization.
  • Writes and reviews purchase requisitions, reviews and approves job invoices, Authority to stock and audits invoices and VMI activities and manages spend in the maintenance department within approved budgets.
  • Acts as the contact person for coordination of contractor activity.
  • Executes Continuous Improvement programs, acts as a change agent.
  • Resolves all shop floor issues and executes all company policies
  • Acts as the liaison for all outside resources for their craft.
  • Reviews and accepts all other duties as assigned.
  • Reviews and continuously upgrades employee skills to meet the demands of new technology which are a critical part of this Individual's responsibility and the cross functional learning to elevate the shop as a fully multi-craft shop.
  • Work closely with Engineering, production and other departments, at all levels of supervision, throughout the plant in making estimates, determining priorities, scheduling, and managing shop personnel.
  • Must be able to handle deadlines, variable workloads, and be on call 24-hours when needed.
  • Proactive in: Driving our safety culture, driving continuous improvement through scheduling, PM/PdM (Reliability Improvement), 6S, Precision Work, work order management, and other mill continuous improvement efforts
  • Maintaining, developing and monitoring mill systems, including ISO requirements.
  • Attends and participates in the appropriate training for the use of fire extinguishing equipment and notification procedures should a small, containable fire ignite in the work area.
  • Serves as a member of the Pixelle Industrial Fire Team to mitigate risk and escalation of fires within the facility and provides assistance required by your craft.
