About The Position

The Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Design Engineer will work with our team to develop Electrical and Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) designs for water and wastewater treatment processes.  The primary focus of this role will be on design using AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, Kofax, Bluebeam, and Microsoft software tools to perform engineering work.  This position will gain knowledge of basic electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering principles, system architecture designs, communication equipment for radio, fiber, and copper network-related systems, security best practices, and water/wastewater process control narratives, all with the objective of ensuring efficient and reliable operation for our client's systems. The Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Design Engineer will join our Water/Wastewater team in either Dallas or San Antonio, Texas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Computer or Electrical Engineering.
  • 0 - 5 Years of Experience as an Instrumentation and Controls Design Engineer.
  • Take direction effectively and work in a team environment.
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • AutoCAD and Microstation experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
  • Experience in water/wastewater preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior staff in performing industrial control system assessments and prepare preliminary design reports (PDRs).
  • Coordinate the efforts of the electrical design team on projects from schematic design development through the contract document phase.
  • Develop detailed technical documentation such as project plans and specifications, engineering reports, etc.
  • Support senior staff in development of Opinion of Probable Construction Cost (OPCC).
  • Arrange and participate in meetings with various clients and governing agencies.
  • Conduct workshops at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
  • Support senior staff in witnessing of field acceptance test (FATs) and field inspections.
  • Provide construction contractor administration support as needed.
