Work for the Smart Safety Company American Van, a Safe Fleet company and a leader in the truck equipment manufacturing industry, is looking for a Installation Technician to work as part of a team installing and repairing Automated Tarp Systems. This important team member partners with others to install Roll-Rite or Pulltarps systems according to company processes, and operating manual instructions. The Installation Technician performs basic wiring, does minor welding and operates industrial sewing machines to repair and produce completed products.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience on industrial sewing machines is desired but will train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Installations: Basic knowledge of automotive systems
  • STRONG mechanical aptitude with experience using hand and power tools
  • Proven experience with 12V electrical systems (wiring, troubleshooting, circuit design)
  • Ability to install and configure: - Vehicle alarms and security systems - Lighting (interior, exterior, LED, strobes) - Power inverters, battery systems, and auxiliary power setups - GPS units, cameras, and other electronic accessories
