About The Position

The person employed in this capacity will perform his/her duties under the direction of the Director of Building and Housing Codes. This person will review construction documents and perform field inspections for code compliance and to provide assistance to other personnel regarding Code Enforcement. Perform other duties as required by supervisor.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. with two (2) years of College/Technical school.
• Residential Electrical Inspector Certificate.
• Commercial Electrical Inspector Certificate.
• ICC level I/Residential and Commercial (must be obtained within 24 months of employment) certification as an Electrical Inspector.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of construction and associated codes.
• Five years experience in construction or equivalent education/experience.
• One year performing electrical inspections or electrical construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of commercial and residential construction.
• Must be able to crawl and climb to perform inspections.
• Provide technical support to other inspectors and staff.
• Prepare written reports.
• Discuss the aspects of the codes relative to Electrical Construction with contractors, architects, engineers, owners and the general public.
• Act as liaison regarding assigned projects.
