About The Position

Join the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division as an Electrical / IT Inspector, supporting multiple projects across LAWAs Capital Improvement Program. In this role, you will perform daily electrical and IT inspections on building and terminal construction projects, ensuring compliance with national electrical codes, safety standards, and LAWA-specific requirements. This position requires strong technical knowledge, excellent documentation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders in an active airport environment. Candidates must possess a current ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector certification to apply. Proof of NFPA 70E and Cal-OSHA 30-hour training must be provided prior to assignment. A valid LAWA SIDA badge is required before the official start date.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience performing electrical/IT inspections for building construction.
  • Current ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector certification (required).
  • Proof of NFPA 70E training within the last 3 years.
  • Proof of Cal-OSHA 30-hour training within the last 4 years.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70, 70E, 72.
  • Fall protection and harness training.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PMWeb, Adobe Pro, Bluebeam.
  • High school diploma (or equivalent).
  • Must be able to work various shifts including day, swing, and night.
  • Must be available for modified schedules, nights, weekends, and overtime to support project needs.
  • Must obtain a LAWA SIDA badge prior to starting assignment.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of electrical and IT installations across LAWA construction projects.
  • Review and interpret construction documents including blueprints, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Verify contractor compliance with: NEC / NFPA 70 NFPA 70E NFPA 72 LAWA standards and project specifications
  • Prepare clear, detailed daily inspection reports that document: WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all observed activities.
  • Identify and report deficiencies, safety concerns, and construction issues promptly.
  • Track and document: Time-and-material work Field changes Job quantities
  • Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on the approved Schedule of Values.
  • Coordinate special inspections and testing activities with engineers, contractors, and third-party agencies.
  • Utilize electronic systems for efficient review and management of: Submittals RFIs Change orders Inspection documentation
  • Underground utilities and duct banks
  • High-voltage switchgear and electrical panels
  • Conduit racks, conductors, and grounding systems
  • Interior and exterior lighting systems
  • Fire-life safety systems (smoke/heat detectors, FM-200 suppression)
  • Electrical shutdowns, lockout/tagout procedures, breaker coordination
  • Low-voltage voice/data systems
  • Security, access control, and card reader systems
  • CCTV cameras and public address (P.A.) system components
  • Communication cabling and equipment room infrastructure
