About The Position

The Movable Bridge Business Unit is seeking Electrical Engineers with interest in Internship Opportunities focused on Movable Bridge Design. As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will support the design and evaluation of electrical systems for transportation infrastructure, including movable bridges, roadway lighting, and related facilities. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, your responsibilities may include: Assisting in the design of electrical control systems for manual, automatic, and remote operation of movable bridges. Supporting the development of power distribution systems for roadway lighting and transportation facilities. Creating and updating wiring diagrams and electrical component details. Participating in field inspections of electrical systems for bridges, lighting, and facilities, and contributing to technical reports based on findings. Assisting with start-up procedures for bridge electrical and control systems. Preparing design drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams under the supervision of senior engineers. Performing basic electrical analysis and helping select components for bridge and lighting systems. Using engineering software tools and manufacturer-specific programs with guidance from senior staff. Helping develop preliminary system layouts and providing input for CAD technicians to produce contract drawings. Supporting on-site inspections and contributing to inspection reports, recommendations, and cost estimates for electrical systems in bridges, tunnels, and other transportation structures. As a Movable Bridge Design Engineer with Modjeski and Masters, you will work on a variety of challenging and rewarding bridge engineering projects for a myriad of transportation clients. The movable Bridge Unit focuses on the structural, mechanical, and electrical design of movable bridges of all types. Projects include new design of movable structures, structural, mechanical, and electrical inspection and rehabilitation of existing bridges. Our instrumentation group is housed in this unit and focuses on short term monitoring of bridges and other structures using a wide variety of gauges and instrumentation. Structural, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineers as well as CADD Technicians make up the staff of this unit.

Requirements

  • Working towards a BS in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Engineering with a concentration in Electrical from an ABET accredited College or University
  • Physical capability to climb ladders, stairways, and perform work on walkways and platforms at high elevations on bridge superstructures during field assignments.
  • Good command of the English language with good oral and written communication skills.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
