About The Position

AV is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineering Intern to join our Space Technologies Electrical Engineering Team. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience designing and developing electronics for space applications and supporting electrical integration efforts in complex systems. This is an excellent opportunity to work within agile, cross-disciplinary teams at the forefront of Space and Defense technology. On any given day, the selected candidate may be asked to: Assist in the creation and modification of detailed wiring diagrams and electrical schematics. Collaborate with Mechanical and Systems Engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems. Support the development of system-level cable routing, power distribution, and interconnect documentation. Utilize industry-standard tools (e.g., Altium, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar) to generate technical drawings. Help prepare design packages that comply with applicable military and industry standards. Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into revisions. Assist with troubleshooting and validation of assemblies during prototyping or system integration.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field
  • Experience creating or interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Basic understanding of analog or digital electronics and printed circuit boards.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Due to the nature of this role U.S. citizenship is required.
  • ITAR Requirement: This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction. Please understand that any job offer that requires approval of an export license will be conditional on AeroVironment’s determination that it will be able to obtain an export license in a time frame consistent with AeroVironment’s business requirements. A “U.S. person” according to the ITAR definition is a U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or protected individual such as a refugee or asylee. See 22 CFR § 120.15. Some positions will require current U.S. Citizenship due to contract requirements.
