About The Position

Electrical Engineering Intern R10088137 Electrical Engineering Intern (Open) Location: Cottage Grove, MN (AMG) - ASU How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? PROGRAM SUMMARY: Program is a temporary 10 week program for current college students designed to provide training, exposure and experience in a key functional area that impacts our business. Participants will work directly with managers and mentors who can contribute to their career development in addition to helping them build technical and leadership skills. We are looking for you! $30/hr. Schedule: Mon-Fri normal business hours Travel: One week POSITION SUMMARY: Engineering Interns will gain a perspective and understanding of various areas of production at Airgas,.The intern will have the opportunity to work on a variety of diverse projects that provide real-world work experience and directly impact the organization. Work Arrangement: This role requires a hybrid schedule of two (2) days on-site and three (3) days remote per week. This is subject to change based on business needs. On-site location is in Cottage Grove Minnesota. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Projects Support the engineering, manufacturing and procurement process and ensure that it meets the needs of the projects including: Coordinate with internal and external engineering resources Assists in the development of project proposals, cost estimates and budgets, timelines and schedules Safety & Compliance Supports and complies with all process safety management and risk management plan practices. Supports all personnel policies directed by local and corporate personnel. Data Management and Analysis Learn the skills and gain exposure to use of motor protection relays. Build a project to update obsolete units. Complete digital backups for all in service relays. Support the Reliability team with health assessments of critical medium voltage equipment in the US and Canada.

Requirements

  • Currently working towards a graduate or undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Dependable, quick learner who is independent and works well with others
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Detail-oriented and quality focused
  • Ability and desire to work in industrial environments
  • Strong verbal communication, organization, scheduling skills
  • Ability to act with professionalism, customer focus, and confidentiality
  • Ability to learn and utilize Google applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail)
  • Able to save and maintain electronic files
  • Ability to learn and use additional 3rd party software programs
  • Ability to write routine business correspondence in English
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Associates and/or customers
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals using the English language
  • Ability to prioritize workload and self-manage projects, handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
  • Employee may be required to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Employee may occasionally be required to traverse through office and/or industrial sites
  • Employee will frequently be required to actively listen and exchange information.
  • Employee will be required to observe and assess information received via computer.
  • Requires use of computer, telephone and operation of a motor vehicle.
  • Must have reliable, appropriate transportation.
  • Job requires visitation to various Airgas sites, which have varying environments/conditions, layouts, and accessibility.
