About The Position

Americas Residential, a division of ASSA ABLOY is looking for a highly motivated and practical Electrical Engineering Intern to work in our headquarter office in Lake Forest, CA . This role will offer you the opportunity to be a part of a global company and the market leader in opening solutions. You will be working closely with our Engineering teams and will an integral part of deeply knowledgeable engineering team that strive to build the most robust and reliable lock systems using cutting-edge software development tools and practices. You will be supporting the engineering staff by performing research, design support, documentation, engineering calculations, testing and verification, and other related tasks as skills allow. The Internship role will have the opportunity to work with software, firmware, and hardware engineers on a regular basis. At the end or your internship, you will present your accomplishments and results to the Engineering Leadership team. Must be available to work onsite in our Lake Forest office 3 days a week for our hybrid schedule – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Will be remote Mondays and Fridays.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of hardware engineering processes, tools, methods, test development, algorithms and circuit development
  • Basic knowledge of analog and digital circuits
  • Basic knowledge with CAD tools such as Eagle/Altium/OrCAD/PADS
  • Basic knowledge of programming in C, C++, or python
  • Experience with hands on soldering plus
  • The ability to collaboratively work within a team environment and consistently make contributions to help the team reach their objectives
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with various levels of corporate structure.
  • Self-starter attitude and proficient in managing independent schedule/s.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with and assist senior level engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments such as circuit-level simulation and verification
  • Design and set up experiments, collect data, and write test protocol and qualification reports
  • Conduct design analysis and/or calculations under the supervision of senior level engineers
  • Presentation support: assist in creating presentation models and materials for engineering and executive review
