About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineering Intern to join our engineering team. This internship offers hands-on experience in electrical design, product development from prototyping through production support, including engineering analysis in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers and scientists to design, fabricate, and validate components for cutting-edge analytical instrumentation.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree Junior or above in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong interest in electrical design, manufacturing, or product development.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or NX) NX preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Eagerness to adapt and self-educate in a dynamic work environment.
  • Expected graduation date: 2027 or later
  • Availability to work 16–20 hours/week during the academic year or full-time during the summer

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical sub-systems using Siemens NX applying DFM/DFA principles.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations, use computer modeling software (Ansys Workbench).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, and R&D) to support project development.
  • Participate in product validation, test setup, and data analysis.
  • Assist in maintaining project documentation and ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
  • Contribute to process improvements and innovation initiatives.
  • Design, simulate, and validate RF driver circuitry, including resonant topologies, impedance-matched stages, and high-frequency switching elements.
  • Develop and characterize high-voltage power systems for precision control applications within analytical instruments.
  • Contribute to custom magnetic component design, including coils, transformers, and inductive structures for RF/HV applications.
  • Perform schematic capture and multilayer PCB layout using KiCad, Altium, and industry-standard design rules.
  • Prototype and test high-power switching systems, collecting and analyzing performance data using oscilloscopes, DMMs, function generators, and advanced instrumentation.
  • Execute failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) on RF/HV hardware components and participate in iterative design improvements.
  • Integrate microcontrollers (STM32, AVR, Teensy, etc.) into RF/HV subsystems for monitoring, digital control, and system communication.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving equipment uptime through preventative maintenance practices.
