About The Position

As an Electrical Engineer at TAS Energy you will play a key role in conceptualizing, designing, and optimizing the electrical scope within TAS’s modular components and systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, project managers, and production staff, to ensure the seamless integration of modular solutions into our manufacturing operations. You will work closely with our design and engineering teams to review and analyze customer requirements, specifications, modular construction plans, manufacturing constraints, ensuring they meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal specifications. Your expertise will contribute to the seamless execution of projects, driving efficiency, and excellence in our modular construction processes. Design outputs are communicated through 3D/CAD drawings for the purchase of incorporated components and manufacture of TAS products.

Requirements

  • Prepare and review technical specifications to support project development.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and assembly techniques, with a focus on modular construction methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to translate conceptual ideas into practical, manufacturable designs.
  • Estimating and bid tabulation experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with analysis of compliance with NEC, IEC, NFPA and other relevant codes.
  • Ability to provide electrical calculations such as fault analysis.
  • Maintain knowledge about current trends in codes, equipment, vendors.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement in modular manufacturing practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year engineering program is required, although a degree and/or experience in Controls Engineering may be considered. A substitution of military leadership and/or technical work experience may be considered in lieu of an engineering degree.
  • Completed and passed EIT and/or FE exam (desired but not required in lieu of industry experience).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing and comprehensive documentation.
  • 5-8 years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in power distribution, modular construction, data centers, controls or building systems design.
  • Hands-on knowledge of electrical systems, including switchgear, panel boards, motor starters, VFDs, ATS, UPS, Electrical Commodities- Cable Trays, Conduits and Fittings
  • Ability to work production floor locations, including climbing ladders.
  • Relocation is required with the ability to work Hybrid.

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial HVAC, energy service contracting (ESCO) or central refrigeration plant experience.
  • Experience with Modular systems design is highly preferred.
  • Data Center design experience is a plus.
  • Power generation plant experience is a plus.
  • Design and draft on AutoCAD 2000, Solid works and/or Revit is highly valued.
  • Some experience with controls and PLC programming is desired.
  • PE registration is preferred but not required for this role.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE is preferred.
  • DCS, SCADA, or PLC knowledge is desirable.
  • Field or production experience is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop innovative modular components and systems for manufacturing processes, considering factors such as functionality, efficiency, scalability, and sustainability.
  • Act as an Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) on data center/modular skid design projects to ensure technical excellence.
  • Make decisions on engineering challenges, practices, and methods, crafting innovative design solutions.
  • Responsible for the design of the whole electrical system including: one-line diagram, point-to-point schematic, and compiling bill of materials for all the electrical systems and components.
  • Provide expert advisory services on the projects.
  • Actively participate in meetings and conferences, representing TAS, engaging in discussions on critical electrical issues, and aligning technical strategies.
  • Work closely with the Design team who will utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Revit, AutoCAD) to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings of modular components, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability.
  • Responsible for sizing, selection, and purchase assistance: switch-gear, starter, VFDs, MCCs, conduit and conductors, transformers, motor operated equipment (pumps, compressors), and control systems.
  • Generate comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, bill of materials (BOM), and assembly instructions, to support the manufacturing and assembly of modular components.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to production teams during the manufacturing, assembly, and installation of modular components, resolving design-related issues as needed.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams: Project Engineers, Project Managers, Mechanical and Controls Engineers, Procurement, and with Service Engineers/Technicians.
  • Support Production teams in resolving issues during fabrication & assembly.
  • Supports First of a Kind quality Inspections for Electrical Equipments at vendor sites or at TAS facilities
  • Compiles all electrical O&M information, transmits critical O&M information during the design phase of the project.
  • Assists in compilation of the final sets of IOM manuals.
  • Assist sales and application engineering team on bid tabs and proposal development
  • Any other responsibility as assigned by TAS.
