About The Position

Electrical Engineer, NxStage Medical, Inc., a Fresenius Medical Care N.A. company, Lawrence, Massachusetts Will be involved in every aspect of electrical design, testing and performance for new platforms and products and improvements and extensions to existing medical device products throughout the product life cycle.

Requirements

  • Position requires a Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent foreign degree) in Electrical or Electronics Engineering and 2 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer working with the design and manufacturing process.
  • Must also have 2 years of experience (which can have been gained concurrently with the primary experience requirement above) working with the following: Electronics board design including concept, requirements, schematic design entry, circuit simulation, PCB layout, board bring-up, troubleshooting and release to manufacturing
  • Working with at least one of the following: analog, power, digital, or embedded circuit design
  • Schematic and PCB design tools including OrCAD and Allegro and applying DFM and DFT in the manufacturing process
  • Investigational analysis methods including DFMEA and Design of Experiments.

Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in requirement definition, system architecture development, detailed design and analysis, circuit board bring up and verification, system integration and validation
  • Selects/evaluates components, creates or modifies specification control drawings, performs schematic entry, analyzes circuits, performs analog/digital simulations and calculation, and evaluates design for testability, manufacturability, and reliability
  • Work with vendors on PCB layout, fabrication, and DFM/DFT
  • Debug new designs and develop reliability improvements to existing & new designs
  • Assist in design documentation such as Design Description, Theory of Operations, Test plan
  • Collaborate with the project team to resolve advanced and complex technical problems
  • Participate in hardware design reviews and other related technical reviews
  • Assist in Risk Analysis including, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Operator Misuse Analysis (OMA), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities to ensure process shortcomings are identified and appropriately addressed Participate in Risk Management activities to ensure design and process shortcomings are identified and appropriately addressed
  • Support complex automated and semi-automated assembly and test equipment
  • Provide technical support to emerging issues in production, quality, engineering, or supply chain
  • Support manufacturing plant Lean and cost reduction projects
  • Contribute to process improvement such as the adoption of best practices and design methodologies
