Leidos is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior level Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting mission-critical operations in secure government facilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 2–4 years of experience, or Master’s degree with less than 2 years of experience (additional experience may substitute for degree)
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance
  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles and their application to real-world projects
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams
  • Experience in electrical system design including power distribution, lighting, and controls
  • Familiarity with commercial electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and related CAD tools
  • Awareness of energy-efficient and sustainable design practices
  • Exposure to medium voltage systems, backup generators, UPS, and lighting controls
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex technical challenges

Nice To Haves

  • Current TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to pass a polygraph is required
  • EIT (Engineer in Training) or PE (Professional Engineer) certification
  • Experience with SCADA systems, substation design, and renewable energy integration
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and technical documentation
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Familiarity with project management practices including scheduling and budgeting
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to safety, quality, and innovation
  • Experience with reactive maintenance and industrial control systems (PLCs, instrumentation)

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and layout of medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems
  • Create and update single-line diagrams, protection/control schematics, and equipment specifications
  • Participate in field inspections, functional testing, and commissioning of electrical systems
  • Collaborate with civil, mechanical, systems, and vendor teams to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions
  • Assist in evaluating and specifying electrical components (e.g., transformers, switchgear, UPS systems)
  • Contribute to engineering documentation, technical reports, and maintenance policy development
  • Support power system studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and grounding analysis
  • Gain exposure to SCADA systems, substation design, and renewable energy integration
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office tools for design and documentation
