About The Position

The Electrical Engineer will design, develop, and maintain fire apparatus electrical systems and components to required specifications, focusing on product safety, reliability, quality, and sustainability. May also provide recommendations for electrical systems product development and improvement to ensure there is an electrical standard across all product platforms where applicable. This role involves working on projects from concept through completion, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, industry standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in electrical design and engineering preferably within the large truck manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD (Solid Works) software and electrical design tools.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC).
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification (preferred).
  • Experience with PLCs, automation systems, and power distribution.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA standards.
  • Fire service/apparatus industry knowledge and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement electrical systems for fire apparatus products.
  • Prepare and publish technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses for electrical products and projects.
  • Perform testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, codes, and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, project managers, purchasing, sales and production.
  • Research and apply new technologies to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases.
