About The Position

As an entry-level Electrical Engineer within the Nuclear Environmental Group, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of complex electrical systems supporting the nation’s nuclear enterprise. You will work under the mentorship of senior engineers to solve technical challenges that directly impact national security, ensuring the reliability and safety of critical infrastructure and maritime systems.

Requirements

• 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field.
• Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance.
• Candidate must possess strong listening, written, and oral communication skills.
• Candidate must have the ability to evaluate technical documentation for adherence to policies, plans, procedures, and management requirements.
• Candidate must have the ability to work independently and coordinate project work with little to no supervision.

Nice To Haves

• Prior Navy nuclear propulsion experience, DOE or commercial experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, software systems, and networks.
• Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
