About The Position

Los Alamos Technical Associates, Inc. (LATA) is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to join our Facilities Organization at a leading national laboratory. This position focuses on reliability engineering for critical electrical infrastructure supporting research and operational facilities. You will play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous operation of complex systems in a mission-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical systems design, maintenance, or reliability engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of power distribution systems, protective relays, and electrical safety standards.
  • Experience with reliability tools (FMEA, RCM, predictive analytics) and CMMS systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a highly regulated environment.
  • Must be able to obtain U.S. Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with DOE facility operations or other federal research environments.
  • Certification in Reliability Engineering or Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP).
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems, power quality analysis, and condition monitoring technologies.
  • Actice DOE Q clearance

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies for electrical systems, including power distribution, backup systems, and critical facility equipment.
  • Perform root cause analysis and failure mode assessments to improve system performance and reduce downtime.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and upgrade electrical systems for high availability and resilience.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, predict failures, and optimize preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with DOE standards, NFPA codes, and laboratory safety requirements.
  • Support capital projects and modernization efforts with reliability-focused design input.
