About The Position

The Electrical Engineer role is responsible for the design, integration, and validation of electrical subsystems for power systems used in uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) and portable power applications. This role expands on foundational electrical engineering experience by taking ownership of subcomponents such as power distribution, communication networks, and payload interfaces. The Engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performance electrical systems that support flight operations, mission payloads, and avionics. Working under limited supervision, this position contributes to prototype development, testing, and system troubleshooting, helping bridge design intent with manufacturable and serviceable hardware. The successful candidate demonstrates a balance of technical depth, practical problem-solving, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field required.
  • 2–4 years of relevant engineering experience in electrical or avionics system design.
  • Hands-on experience supporting prototype builds, testing, or system integration activities.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer preferred).
  • Working knowledge of wiring harness design, electrical load analysis, and EMI/EMC mitigation.
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and data acquisition tools.
  • Understanding of communication protocols (CAN, RS-232/422, Ethernet).
  • Familiarity with aerospace or automotive wiring standards (MIL-SPEC connectors, IPC/WHMA-A-620).
  • Analytical mindset and strong attention to technical detail.
  • Ability to manage subcomponent-level design and testing independently.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and documentation skills.
  • Strong organizational habits and ownership of deliverables.
  • Comfortable working in prototype and fast-paced environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Prior experience developing avionics or electrical subsystems for UAVs, aircraft, or robotics.
  • Exposure to environmental testing, hardware qualification, or certification processes.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools such as SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, or LTspice.
  • Experience with automated test systems and scripting (Python, LabVIEW).
  • Understanding of flight control systems, sensors, and embedded electronics.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Strong teamwork and mentoring capabilities with junior engineers or technicians.
  • Interest in advancing toward subsystem or platform ownership roles.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and integrate electrical subsystems including wiring harnesses, PCBs, power distribution assemblies, and analog and digital communication systems.
  • Design, update, and troubleshoot EMI/EMC to minimize noise.
  • Perform electrical analysis (load, current draw, voltage regulation) to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness drawings using Altium or similar software.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and software teams to resolve interface and integration challenges.
  • Generate validation test plans and schedules, and support bench testing, HIL setups, and flight test activities.
  • Lead root-cause analysis for electrical issues and implement design improvements.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of design standards and documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with aerospace quality, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Provide guidance to technicians on assembly, harness routing, and system verification procedures.
