About The Position

The Consolidated Operations Management and Test (COMET) contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These tasks support the International Space Station, Exploration Ground Systems, Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and Launch Services programs. We are looking for bright and motivated Engineers to join the COMET Controls Development Laboratory Software team at Kennedy Space Center. Engineers will directly support NASA's Artemis missions by providing technical development of safety-critical application software used for commanding and control of ground control systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Electrical Engineer II Bachelor of Science (BS) in engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution; at least 4 years of experience
  • Must be a self-motivated, team player comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge and experience troubleshooting electrical and control systems.
  • Ability to read engineering schematics, drawings, and engineering specification is required.
  • If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.
  • Needs to have clear, concise, and accurate communication skills.
  • Must have ability to work well with office staff and customer representatives.
  • Must pass a federal background investigation.
  • Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.

Nice To Haves

  • PLC development experience using Allen Bradley PLC's/RSlogix software platform is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages is desired (VBA, Python)
  • Experience/familiarity with Linux operating systems
  • Experience with Version One or other similar Agile software methodologies.
  • Experience with the full lifecycle of software processes (design, development, test and delivery) for safety-critical software.
  • Knowledge of electrical control panel assembly fabrication is desired.
  • Basic knowledge of fluids systems and transducers is desired.
  • Ground or launch vehicle system experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical development of safety-critical launch PLC products including requirements, design, coding, testing, and documentation.
  • Provide technical support as a part of one or more ground control subsystem development teams.
  • Perform integration across subsystem teams to assure continuity of PLC products.
  • Serve as part of the team responsible for technical integration between the ground subsystems and the NASA customer.
  • Develop and/or evaluate work instruction packages.
  • Support internal and project level reviews, working groups, vendor technical interchange meetings, peer reviews, code walk-throughs and other project deliverables associated with the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
