About Overwatch: Overwatch Imaging is an imagery intelligence technology company working to bring sensor autonomy to time-critical airborne search, detection, tracking and monitoring missions. Our Automated Sensor Operator (ASO) software, native to our own line of purpose-built Smart Sensors and as an upgrade for airborne video gimbal platforms, brings Superhuman Vision and Workload Reduction to users of real-time imagery intelligence systems. We fundamentally believe that modern edge processing and AI-enabled autonomy can perform an important set of time-critical imagery intelligence missions better, faster and more safely than humans can alone. Founded in 2016 in Hood River, Oregon, we support private sector companies as well as federal, state and local agencies around the world with missions ranging from wildfire mapping and disaster response to law enforcement, border security, maritime domain awareness and tactical intelligence. About this Role: The Overwatch Imaging Electrical Engineer will lead our electrical architecture solution by designing and developing circuits and systems including schematics, PCBAs, power and communication architecture, and wiring solutions in support of customized smart airborne imaging systems. The ideal candidate will help deliver on our mission to provide airborne imaging solutions designed to scan wide areas, find small objects of interest and deliver actionable intelligence quickly and effectively for important missions around the world.

Requirements

• Formal education in electrical engineering, robotics, computer engineering or science, physics, or related fields.
• Experience in aerospace and defense, particularly with mid-sized unmanned aircraft and/or airborne camera systems.
• Experience with electro-optical remote sensing systems, image processing, camera signal management, and PCB design, assembly, and rework.
• Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience
• Master’s degree and 1+ years of experience
• Digital, Analog and Mixed-Signal Circuit Schematic Design
• Image data routing methods including USB3, Ethernet, Cameralink, SATA, etc.
• Control Systems, IMU, and GPS/INS Hardware and Software
• Java, C++, C and Assembly Programming
• Electromagnetic Compatibility and Environmental Considerations
• Electronic Systems Test Equipment

Responsibilities

• Electrical Hardware Design: Rapidly designs innovative and cost-effective electronics solutions including custom printed circuit boards, motion control elements, signal routing solutions, microprocessors, device drivers and custom code.
• Electronic Systems Build and Test: Assembles and operates prototype and pre-production imaging systems and creates testing methods and devices to ensure proper function and reliability. Works with the Production Team during new product development and production to resolve issues and improve manufacturability.
• Electromagnetic and Environmental Compatibility Engineering: Develops EMI/EMC solutions using custom and COTS components for operations in the aircraft environment; develops and creates testing tools and procedures for environmental compatibility.
• Imaging Payload Electronics Architecture: Develops near-term and long-term strategies for maximizing electrical component flexibility and reuse while minimizing design cycle time and component cost.
