About The Position

As an Electrical Engineer at Maddox, you will split your time between the office and the shop floor—tracing and testing control circuits, troubleshooting wiring issues, and drafting detailed electrical schematics. You’ll integrate metering systems, assist with transformer coil design, and review customer specifications to identify unique requirements. You’ll lead efforts to standardize control wiring processes across facilities, improving quality and lead time. Our shops run at a high pace and often the work is performed with stringent deadlines. Requirements

  • We are seeking a candidate with exceptional aptitude, attitude, and ambition.
  • Must have CAD experience, be proficient with spreadsheets, and have a solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency drafting wiring diagrams, electrical schematics
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Eager to learn, adaptable, and dependable.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Programming: scripting, software, embedded systems, or web development.
  • Designed and built something of note (software, electronics, or a machine)
  • Familiarity with transformer operation and design principles.
  • Understanding of electrical metering systems and their installation.
  • Familiarity with UL 508A, NEC (NFPA 70), and NFPA 79 standards.

Responsibilities

  • Control Circuit Testing & Troubleshooting: Evaluate electrical control panels and devices to ensure functionality and compliance with safety standards.
  • Electrical Schematic Drafting: Develop detailed electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using CAD software, complying with standards such as UL 508A, NFPA 70 (NEC), and NFPA 79.
  • Shop Support & Process Standardization: Collaborate closely with technicians to address wiring questions, and standardize wiring processes across all Maddox facilities.
  • Transformer Design: Support magnetic and electrical design, including core and winding calculations, rewinds, and design modifications.
  • Review Customer Specifications: Understand the customer’s requirements, identify necessary exceptions, propose alternatives, and ensure our quote is accurate.
  • Metering & Measurement Systems: Source and equip transformers with the right metering systems for reliable and accurate operation.
