About The Position

An established MEP engineering firm is seeking a Mid-to-Senior Level Electrical Engineer / Project Manager to join our team in Pittsburgh, OH. This full-time role focuses on designing power and lighting systems for commercial and institutional buildings, managing projects from concept through construction, and maintaining strong client relationships. The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with 7+ years of electrical engineering experience in consulting, hands-on drafting proficiency, and a proven track record in building systems design. This position provides the opportunity to lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to high-quality engineering solutions in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in an MEP or architectural engineering consulting environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, with hands-on drafting responsibilities.
  • Experience designing electrical systems for commercial sectors such as higher education, municipal, recreation, medical offices, retail, hospitality, or light manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and commercial building codes.
  • Proven track record in consulting engineering; candidates from utilities, manufacturers, or long-term contract roles will not be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems, including power distribution and lighting, for commercial and institutional buildings in Pittsburgh.
  • Lead engineering projects from initial concept through construction administration.
  • Prepare detailed drawings and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit, performing your own drafting work.
  • Collaborate with architects, mechanical and plumbing engineers, and building owners to ensure design coordination.
  • Ensure all designs comply with NEC and local building codes applicable in Pittsburgh, OH.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and client communications effectively.
  • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide construction-phase support.
  • Mentor junior engineers and maintain high standards of technical quality control.
