Position Overview: Novelis in Warren, Ohio has an opportunity to participate in our on-site summer 2026 internship. The team is seeking an Engineering Intern that can join the team for approximately 12 weeks. The person in this role will have the opportunity to participate in relevant work and gain hands on industry experience This internship will provide exposure to various meaningful facets of the role of an EMRA Engineer within one of our facilities. This exposure will allow the candidate to gain hands on industry experience in their chosen field of study as they prepare to begin their career.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an accredited 4-year University.
  • Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or recent Graduate.
  • Interested in gaining hands-on industry experience prior to graduation.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills which are essential for interacting with all levels of the organization
  • Fully committed to engage in safe working practices.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer students majoring in Electrical Engineering or related fields
  • Has completed one PLC or programming class
  • High interest in becoming an engineering leader in a manufacturing environment
  • Driven to use the skills they have learned and explore new knowledge to improve upon what they already know.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about industrial machinery, motor controls, software programming, and state of the art PLC systems.
  • Learn about metals processing and manufacture.
  • Create work orders and supervise work.
  • Provide support for various Electrical, Reliability, and Automation Engineering Projects.
  • Perform Engineering drawing modifications.
  • Install a line speed sensor on the exit section.
  • Create a scope of work for a project.
  • Troubleshoot a variety of industrial manufacturing equipment in a manufacturing facility.
  • Work under the supervision of staff engineers on control plans, system testing, and machine commissioning.
