Novelis in Guthrie, KY has an opportunity to participate in our on-site summer 2026 internship. The team is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern that can join the team for approximately 12 weeks. The person in this role will have the opportunity to participate in relevant work and gain hands on industry experience. The intern will report to the Engineering Leader and will gain experience with our local engineering team.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an accredited 4-year University.
  • Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or recent Graduate.
  • Interested in gaining hands-on industry experience prior to graduation.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills which are essential for interacting with all levels of the organization.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer students majoring in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
  • Familiar with MS Office and AutoCAD products.
  • Desire to learn or ability to use PLC systems.
  • Familiarity with digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other troubleshooting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about industrial machinery, motor controls, software programming, and state of art PLC systems.
  • Provide support for various Electrical Engineering Projects.
  • Perform Engineering drawing modifications.
  • Troubleshoot a variety of industrial manufacturing equipment including aluminum rolling lines, mobile equipment, and furnaces.
  • Work under the supervision of staff engineers on control plans, system testing, and machine commissioning.
