About The Position

The Electrical Engineer III will take on a leadership role in the electrical design, assembly, and commissioning of more complex systems and equipment. They will lead major projects, influence system architecture, and take ownership of electrical systems across the product lifecycle. This role requires someone with a strong technical foundation who can work independently, mentor junior engineers, and drive innovation. Traveling to customer locations might be required for installation or servicing.

Requirements

  • BSEE (Advanced degree MSEE preferred) or equivalent and three to four (3-4) years of relevant electronic design experience
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering assembly drawings & work procedures
  • 2+ years' experience lab test equipment such as digital multimeter, oscilloscope, power supplies, logic analyzer
  • Hands-on experience with electronic product assembly, soldering & rework
  • Experience in using PCB/Schematic software such as Eagle and Orcad
  • Experience using Wiring Harness Software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent technical, conceptual, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic start-up environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing harnesses and assemblies for use in ultra-high vacuum environment a plus
  • Previous experience with SOLIDWORKS Electrical a plus
  • Experience in regulated industries (eg., medical, aerospace, semiconductor).
  • Experience owning a full product lifecycle from concept to production.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM), design for testing (DFT) and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical design on major projects, taking responsibility for system architecture and overall design direction.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, R&D, Purchasing, Field Service Engineering, and Manufacturing to define technical requirements and project timelines.
  • Participate in developing design strategies for complex systems and oversee detailed design of circuits, PCBs, and system-level architectures.
  • Evaluate design alternatives and recommend the most cost-effective and technically sound solutions.
  • Drive integration of electronics into multi-disciplinary products, ensuring compatibility with mechanical, electro-optical, software and user interface.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the Electrical Engineering group and across the broader product development team.
  • Take responsibility for the transition of new products from Engineering to Production, taking the lead on resolving design issues found during pilot and production runs.
  • Ensure the team is prepared to scale designs effectively.
  • Take an active role in supplier interactions and collaborate with purchasing in the evaluation and selection of suppliers for tooling, fabricated parts, and purchased components.
  • Participate in EE design review of complex systems and circuits to find the best option in devices, protocols and connections.
  • Develop and execute complex test plans, ensuring functionality, reliability, and compliance with specifications.
  • Perform experimental tests, evaluations, and simulations on electrical systems.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process and tool improvements, especially in areas like design efficiency, test procedures, or new technology integration.
  • Drive the selection and integration of design tools into the team’s workflow, ensuring tools are optimized for system design and integration.
  • Mentor junior engineers (EE I and II) providing technical leadership, guidance, and feedback on design and development processes.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning and the development of engineering standards, tools, and processes within the Electrical Engineering team.
