In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Collaborate within a cross-functional team, leveraging your expertise to deliver transformative capabilities for IDT's oligo synthesis platforms, from initial ideation to prototyping and development to implementation in a manufacturing environment. Design and develop high-density, multi-layer PCBs with analog/digital/mixed-signal circuits. Lead the development and integration of custom electronics with embedded firmware, enabling reliable operation of mixed-signal control and sensing modules. Support design validation, system integration and testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics or related discipline required with 3+ years’ applicable experience in an electrical engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of digital and analog circuit design including op-amps, sensor interfaces, filters, ADCs/DACs, and power regulation with experience in schematic capture, simulation and PCB design tools (Altium, KiCAD, Eagle, OrCAD, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience developing embedded firmware in C/C++ for microcontrollers.
  • Ability to develop, test, and debug hardware/firmware interactions using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, and other lab equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear documentation, including hardware specifications, test procedures, and firmware design notes.
  • Ability to travel 5-10% time domestically
  • Ability to occasionally lift, move or carry equipment up to 20lb
  • Ability to frequently work in a laboratory environment for extended periods

Nice To Haves

  • Biotechnology device experience (e.g. synthesis, sequencing, or –omics enabling workflow devices)
  • Embedded communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and RS-485.
  • Integrating custom embedded hardware with industrial automation or PLC systems (EtherCAT, OPC-UA, Modbus, etc.).
  • Experience with design and development of CMOS-based electrochemical devices (e.g., muliplexed sensing platforms).
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting experience to resolve EMI/EMC/ESD.
  • Familiarity to life science safety standards, such as IEC61010 and risk management.
