Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a full‑time Electrical Designer (EIT) to join our team. A Day in the Life of an Electrical Engineer / Designer (EIT) at Hanson Here’s a snapshot of what you would do in this role: Support electrical design efforts on a variety of projects across the country, with emphasis on Hanson’s Government market Assist with planning, design, and construction support activities under the guidance of licensed Professional Engineers and project managers Prepare and revise electrical drawings, specifications, and design documentation Support the design of electrical power distribution systems, interior and exterior lighting systems, and fire alarm/low‑voltage systems Assist with lighting and power system design, grounding systems, electrical distribution layouts, and equipment selection Support generator and emergency power system design Prepare calculations and assist with construction administration tasks, including submittal reviews and field observations Coordinate with project engineers, designers, and CAD/Revit technicians Other duties as assigned What We’re Looking For We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Engineering‑in‑Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within six months
  • Minimum two years of experience in consulting professional services or a closely related field
  • Familiarity with electrical drawings, specifications, and design documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Willingness to learn and accept technical guidance
  • Strong communication and technical documentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Motivation to pursue professional growth and licensure
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues across multiple offices
  • Willingness to travel and work additional hours as project demands require
  • Valid driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

  • Progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
  • Exposure to electrical, building, and energy codes
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams
  • Understanding of power distribution, lighting systems, and electrical calculations
  • Familiarity with: Lighting calculation software (Visual, AGI32)
  • Basic power system analysis tools (voltage drop, short‑circuit calculations)
  • Energy analysis tools (COMcheck, FLACOM, EnergyGauge)

Responsibilities
