The Electrical Engineer will play a key role in the design and delivery of hyperscale and AI-factory data center projects, serving as a senior technical contributor within the Data Center Solutions & Architecture team. This position focuses on the development, coordination, and review of complex electrical systems, including medium- and high-voltage distribution, UPS, switchgear, and critical facility infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on design experience, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines, vendors, utilities, and regulatory authorities. While not required to hold a PE license, this role is expected to independently own electrical design workstreams and support project execution at a high technical level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 6–10+ years of experience designing electrical systems for data centers, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale industrial/commercial projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of medium- and high-voltage power distribution, UPS systems, switchgear, grounding, and protection schemes.
  • Experience with power system analysis and design tools such as ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently execute complex technical work and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex electrical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • PE license or LEED accreditation is not required, but relevant certifications or progress toward licensure are a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting hyperscale or AI-focused data center developments.
  • Familiarity with utility interconnection processes, load studies, and substation coordination.
  • Exposure to HVDC distribution, solid-state transformers (SST), or next-generation power architectures.
  • Experience working with owners’ engineering teams, EPC firms, or colocation providers.
  • Knowledge of international codes and standards (IEC, IEEE) for global project support.
  • Prior involvement in construction administration, commissioning, or integrated systems testing (IST).
  • Progress toward PE licensure or other professional engineering certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to electrical design for data center projects, including one-line diagrams, grounding concepts, protection and coordination, and arc-flash mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and review electrical design packages for constructability, safety, reliability, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Serve as a technical resource for advanced power architectures, including HVDC concepts, solid-state transformers (SST), UPS systems, and busway/busduct solutions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, external engineers of record, contractors, utilities, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) throughout design and construction phases.
  • Review calculations, drawings, and specifications prepared by internal or external partners to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Provide technical guidance and informal mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Support proposals, client meetings, and technical workshops by contributing electrical system expertise.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA 70E, IEC, UL, and local regulations.
