About The Position

As a mid-level Electrical Engineer in the BESS group, you will be responsible for performing engineering design and analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer. You will be a part of an integrated design team and are responsible for coordinating with team members to meet project schedules and deliverables on time and within the defined budget. Salary Range: $75,000 - $110,000 / year The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market. This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
  • Experience: 1 – 4 years of relevant engineering or field experience
  • Licensure: FE, PE is a plus, but not required
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
  • Good interpersonal and people skills
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with utility-scale BESS
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical, electrical power system study software (PowerFactory, ETAP), CYMCAP, CDEGS/WinIGS, Visual Lighting, etc.
  • Experience with 3D BIM design software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and standard computer software

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to perform detailed physical and electrical design and engineering for all aspects of battery energy storage systems (BESS). Typical design products might include BESS equipment general arrangements, single line diagrams, elevations, connection details, bill of materials, construction details, grounding details, conduit plans, illumination plans, etc.
  • Prepares computer-based models and performs power system studies on utility scale BESS projects as required. Typical electrical power system studies might include BESS equipment sizing, specification, and selection, load flow, reactive power, ampacity, short circuit, grounding, illumination, arc flash, harmonics, system loss, etc.
  • Writes material, equipment, and construction specifications.
  • Reviews spec sheets and submittals for conformance with specifications and design.
  • Prepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, and studies.
  • Provides field assistance, troubleshooting, and observation reports, as required.
  • Reviews the work of Designers, Drafters, and Field Service Personnel for general quality and accuracy, as required.
  • Maintains a strong understanding and comprehension of applicable Codes and Standards.
  • Maintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships, particularly for communication pertaining to specific assignments and meeting topics.
  • Maintains high ethical and professional standards.
  • Works additional time beyond 40 hours/week to complete projects, proposals and/or administrative functions, as required.
  • Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work.
  • Attends safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines.
  • Other job-related responsibilities as assigned.
