About The Position

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. The Propulsion Plant Engineering Activity is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer 4 to join our team of talented professionals. As an Electrical Engineer 4, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing innovative electrical systems and solutions that drive business growth and success. Key Responsibilities:    · Design and develop complex electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, and electrical infrastructure    · Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements and deliverables    · Develop and implement testing and validation procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations    · Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and technicians    · Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues, using advanced analytical and problem-solving skillsRequirements:    · Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including circuit analysis, power systems, and control systems    · Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environmentIf You’re the Right Fit:    · You are a motivated and results-driven individual, with a passion for electrical engineering and a desire to make a meaningful impact    · You have a strong technical foundation, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills    · You are an effective communicator and team player, with the ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals Join our team as an Electrical Engineer 4 and contribute your skills and expertise to the design, development, and implementation of innovative electrical systems and solutions.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including circuit analysis, power systems, and control systems
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience
  • Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience
  • Ph.D. and 4 years of experience
  • Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice To Haves

  • Aircraft carrier deckplate experience or prior military service
  • An active security clearance
  • Previous project management experience
  • Familiarity or previous experience working with electric generators and their protection and control systems
