About The Position

Collins Aerospace is looking to hire a highly motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join our Mission Systems organization. This entry-level role will support the Strategic Defense Solutions (SDS) portfolio, with a focus on the Mission Management team responsible for secure voice and networking communication systems for military applications. You will contribute to the design and development of an aircraft-certified end instrument for use across all Mission Management. This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered. This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong academic foundation in circuit design, microcontrollers, or FPGA technologies.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture tools and hardware design principles (internship or academic project experience acceptable).
  • Internship or co-op experience in electrical design or communication systems.
  • Basic understanding of military or dual-use communication technologies.
  • Exposure to electronics packaging or technical documentation (ICDs, SCDs, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of secure communication products, including System on Chip (SoC)/System on Module (SoM), microcontrollers, and FPGA-based systems.
  • Support schematic capture and electronics packaging efforts under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Help create and update technical documentation, such as Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Source Control Drawings (SCDs).
  • Participate in design reviews and team meetings to ensure alignment with program requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Learn and apply best practices in hardware design and development processes.
