Reporting to the Sr. Electrical Controls Engineer, the Electrical Engineering Controls Intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support automated systems, PLCs, and electrical components control, and operation of the manufacturing process and process equipment. Responsibilities include updating schematics, debugging control panels, creating documentation, and troubleshooting, to enhance manufacturing efficiency.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical or controls engineering
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to collaborate and build relationships
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits, control systems, and troubleshooting
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and eagerness to learn in a dynamic environment
  • Must be a self-motivated, strong work ethic individual that is willing to work with minimal supervision
  • Capable of working in an office or shop environment while sitting, standing, climbing steps, kneeling, and bending. Will work in a plant and industrial environment which may include dust and heat.
  • Ability to wear PPE while in the Plant (Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, Hardhats, Earplugs, High-Viz Vest or Shirts, other as required)

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in or familiarity with CAD tools (AutoCAD), PLC programming software (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens)

Responsibilities

  • Must be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated
  • Will take an active role in the company’s safety initiatives
  • Support the scoping and oversight of small projects
  • Assist in organizing and inputting process data into the historian system
  • Support the development, testing, and troubleshooting of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programs and HMI (Human Machine Interface) screens.
