The Electrical Engineer will execute engineering functions for the design, development, and commissioning of electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities. This is an on-site position based in Anaheim, CA, ideal for a mid-level engineer with 3–5 years of professional experience who is passionate about electrical systems design. You will play a hands-on role in developing electrical designs, local control panel layouts, and junction box configurations, while coordinating directly with panel fabricators to ensure quality deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in electrical engineering design.
  • Demonstrated experience in control panel design and/or junction box design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical CAD software.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and relevant industry standards (IEEE, ISA, UL508A).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with fabricators and project teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables within project schedule constraints.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in water and wastewater treatment projects or other industrial/municipal infrastructure is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing panel fabricators and reviewing shop drawings.
  • Familiarity with hazardous area classifications (NEC 500 / 505, ATEX) is a plus.
  • Experience with motor control center (MCC) and variable frequency drive (VFD) design.
  • Experience with SCADA/PLC integration and instrument loop drawings is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities, including power distribution, instrumentation, and control wiring.
  • Develop and produce local control panel (LCP) drawings including panel layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bill of materials.
  • Design junction boxes including terminal block schedules, enclosure sizing, and conduit entry configurations.
  • Prepare and maintain electrical construction drawings and specifications in compliance with NEC, IEEE, and project standards.
  • Coordinate with and manage electrical panel fabricators, including issuing RFQs, reviewing shop drawings, and conducting factory acceptance tests (FATs).
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams including process, mechanical, civil, and instrumentation engineers.
  • Support field construction activities including site visits, electrical inspections, and commissioning assistance.Perform electrical load calculations, voltage drop analysis, and short-circuit studies.
  • Prepare comprehensive instrument data sheets and technical specifications for electrical and I&C components.
  • Apply UL508A, NEC standards, and latest industry codes in all designs and implementations.
  • Maintain project documentation and ensure deliverables meet schedule and quality requirements.
  • Support junior engineers through knowledge-sharing and mentoring.
