About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will work within the Research & Development department to develop products using electrical and control solutions based on engineering principles and to analyze project requirements. This position will perform technical calculations supporting design, including electrical design & requirements, safety standards, and control system development.

Requirements

  • Proficient in electrical panel design, standards, drawings, and documentation - AutoCAD preferred.
  • Proficient in PCL & HMI programming – Codesys preferred.
  • Experience with UL & ETL certification and other electrical standards.
  • Experience managing third-party vendors and other external resources.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming.
  • Strong project management skills; manage, schedule, and track multiple products and processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • 5-7 years in machine design and product development. Prefer experience in the food and beverage packaging industry.
  • Experience leading interdisciplinary engineering projects and teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Python, C++, and JavaScript experience.
  • Experience with non-industrial UI design and development.
  • Experience with Linux environments and Bash scripting.
  • IOT & Cloud service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement control systems for filling machines and packaging equipment to ensure product performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Design and test control algorithms and software for filling machines and packaging equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate controls systems into product designs.
  • Define the electrical & controls scope and schedule for development projects based on the product roadmap, user requirements, and voice-of-the-customer input from sales and service departments.
  • Develop and support the manufacture, assembly, and validation of systems, including pneumatics, servos, VFDs, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, and robotics.
  • Work closely with the production team throughout product development to ensure product requirements can be met using robust manufacturing methods.
  • Assist the Service team in diagnosing and troubleshooting issues in the field and providing technical documentation for translation into customer documentation, such as user manuals.
  • Document programming (PLC & HMI) and hardware standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards in control system designs.
  • Mentor peers and other team members while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
