About The Position

This position involves sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing various items such as machinery, equipment, tools, raw materials, packaging materials, parts, services, and supplies essential for the organization's operations. The role requires compiling and analyzing statistical data to assess product buying feasibility and establish price objectives, as well as monitoring supplier performance. The buyer will track data to stay informed on price trends and manufacturing processes, identify opportunities to leverage material acquisitions, and negotiate with suppliers to determine factors affecting prices to achieve the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and delivery schedules. Responsibilities also include reviewing proposals, selecting or recommending suppliers, analyzing trends, following up on orders, verifying delivery, approving payments, and maintaining records. The role may involve preparing RFPs and bid packages.   • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced material acquisition center supporting various electrical categories/commodities

Responsibilities

  • Sources, negotiates and purchases machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, services, and/or supplies necessary for operation of an organization.
  • Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives.
  • Monitors performance of suppliers.
  • Compiles information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluates areas of opportunity to leverage material acquisitions.
  • Tracks data to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes.
  • Negotiates with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and to determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
  • Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records.
  • May prepare request for proposals (RFP) and bid packages.
