SUMMARY: The Electrical Assembler I is responsible for assembling electrical components, subassemblies, products or systems. Wires presses using electrical components and prefabricated wiring harnesses, electrical parts and assemblies as dictated by electrical schematics, and drawings.

Requirements

  • Ability to measure and analyze tolerance-critical components.
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes, machine shop practices and assembly methods.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and other precision measurement tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a group environment.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, assembly or maintenance is a plus.
  • Ability to read blueprints and work instructions.
  • Ability to lift 50 - 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Squatting, kneeling and standing frequently.
  • This position is exposed to dust/dirt frequently and fumes, vapors and mists occasionally.
  • This position is in a manufacturing environment where the noise level is high.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Follow schematics and layouts to wire panels to meet customer specifications and company wiring and assembly standards. Ensure the use of the correct wires.
  • Test in accordance with company specs.
  • Perform quality inspections and continuity checks.
  • Review shop orders and drawings for the correct parts.
  • Layout and assemble electrical panels to include required components. Perform drilling, tapping and riveting activities as required.
  • Operate a wide variety of small hand and power tools.
  • Performs tasks using a variety of cutting, stripping and crimping tools; both handheld tools and machines.
  • Routes, combs, twists, wraps, ties, and attaches wire to terminal points, according to jig board layout, using soldering gun and hand tools.
  • Assemble electrical or electronic systems or support structures and install components, wiring or assembly casings, soldering or micro-welding equipment.
  • Verify functionality of completed parts with the use of a Digital Multimeter.
  • Conducts functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, components, wire harness and plugs, using ohmmeter, test lights and other electrical testing instruments.
