About The Position

The employee is responsible for the assembly of subassemblies, accessories, and final assemblies. Has knowledge in electrical and mechanical assembly. Assembles individual components in small to large assemblies. Uses hand tools, jigs, fixtures, and miscellaneous power tools and equipment. Gains or has attained full proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the areas of assembly. Works independently within established procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondences.
  • Has working knowledge of operations/manufacturing systems, MRP concepts, and MS office
  • Is high-energy, self-motivated team player with the ability to multi-task.
  • Is experienced with material flow through a manufacturing facility
  • Is willing to flex working hours to cover customer needs in a given week.
  • Is able to keep work areas clean following guidelines.
  • Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Meets productivity standards; Completes work in timely manner.
  • Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures
  • High School diploma, or GED equivalent desired
  • 10+ years related experience in a technically oriented position, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with point-to-point check-out and documentation of completion (multi-meter mastery, schematic mark-up indicating work done)

Nice To Haves

  • Control Panel building experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ability to train peers
  • Advocate for Design for Assembly and Continuous Improvement ideas and suggestions
  • Electrical assembly of machines and machine options
  • Troubleshoot and repair assembly errors quickly and effectively
  • Ability to read and comprehend method sheets, work instructions, and basic engineering drawings
  • Provided feedback to cross functional manufacturing team
  • Follow directions from lead assembler and supervisor.
  • Accurately prepares paperwork as assigned.
  • Utilizes, maintains and cares for all Sharp Packaging supplied tools.
  • Accurately read and follow electrical schematics to wire control panels and machines.
  • Fiber optic terminations
  • Familiarity with different sensors, controls components, actuators, etc. (PNP vs NPN, photo eye, prox, retroreflective.
  • Enclosure basics - creating penetrations, installing cord-grips, layout, DIN rail mounting, EMF control, hi/low voltage separation, ground integrity, etc.
  • Can follow point-to-point wiring diagrams and help create from schematics and/or prototype machines
  • Wire routing hardware and best practices (bundling, securing, routing, 90°, service loops, protective covers/wraps, heat shrink, strain relief)
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned subject to reasonable accommodations.
