About The Position

The Engineering Intern role is an opportunity for an engineering student to bridge the gap between classroom theory and professional practice by assisting the YVEA Engineering Team in the design, testing, and documentation of the Cooperative's electrical systems. This role involves supporting technical projects while gaining hands-on experience.

Requirements

  • Junior-level standing or higher in an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Valid Colorado driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Curiosity, integrity, and a genuine willingness to learn
  • A professional, courteous approach with teammates, contractors, and cooperative members

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with MATLAB, MathCAD, or AutoCAD is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Review and update substation and special equipment records in the asset management system
  • Help maintain the Cooperative's drawing system - one-lines, wiring diagrams, specs, and construction drawings
  • Work with engineers and GIS/CAD technicians to maintain and improve engineering models
  • Support the implementation and commissioning of relay and control systems
  • Help implement AI tools to interpret diverse data sets, size electrical equipment, and aggregate data
  • Assist with the inspection and testing of engineering projects and distributed generation interconnections
  • Practice safe work habits in every task and situation
