About The Position

This engineering position will focus primarily on system protection and control related to the transmission and distribution system with additional support of power production and other facilities. Typical work includes design, review, and event analysis of protection systems utilizing one-line diagrams, schematics, logic diagrams, and wiring diagrams. Work also includes detailed study, analysis, modeling, and calculations for the purpose of developing settings which include short circuit studies, coordination studies, etc. Other typical duties involve support of NERC compliance activities including acting as a subject matter expert. Responsible for engineering activities related to planning, designing, constructing, operating, maintaining, and ensuring regulatory compliance of the electric transmission and distribution systems. Most projects will involve some or all the following activities: investigations, studies, estimating, economic evaluations, budgeting, scheduling, system protection, designing, drawing development and review, construction and commissioning support, training, and project management. Primary roles in the Electric Transmission and Distribution Engineering department include T&D Engineering Design, T&D System Planning, T&D Standards and Materials, and Transmission System Protection and Regulatory Compliance. Essential Functions: Acquires limited knowledge and develops basic skills; Develops an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities Applies prescribed techniques and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform assigned tasks; Performs standard computations or analysis. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates within nine (9) months of completing their Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree will be considered.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally.
  • Predictable and reliable work schedule
  • Comply with all BWL policies and work rule
  • Ability to respond to emergent or unexpected events within the BWL service territory
  • Ability to effectively work in remote and open-office environments
  • Relevant electric transmission or distribution experience; or equivalent related experience. (Typically, four or more years)
