Introduction This recruitment is being given to fill multiple temporary positions in the Registrar of Voters and to establish an eligible referral pool to fill future temporary opportunities. Pre-Employment Background : Potential new hires into this classification are required to successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation as a condition of employment. Final appointment cannot be made unless the eligible has successfully completed the background process TYPICAL DUTIES Learns to process voter registration documents, absentee voter applications and ballots and other election-related documents; to verify signatures on candidate nomination petitions; to maintain and update voter registration files; and to ensure compliance to all regulatory requirements. Learns to interpret and apply provisions of registration and election laws, regulations and related codes relevant to the assignment; assists with the coding, filing and retrieving of documents and records using standard alphabetical, numerical, coded and computerized filing systems; learns to examine documents, records and forms for accuracy and compliance to election laws and regulations. Assists the public; responds to routine questions from candidates, representatives of candidates, office holders, voters, and the general public regarding the elections process. Performs data entry required for voter information, affidavit tracking, absentee voting, and other election related information; assists with the processing of a variety of mail, including absentee ballot applications, new registrant information, and other election related mail; issues receipts for ballots and supplies. Prepares a variety of routine reports, forms, and other written communication. Operates a variety of modern office machines, voting machines and computers. Computes and collects fees; issues receipts; sells maps and voter indices; accepts filing fees. May assist with the recruitment and training of temporary election workers; learns to recruit polling places and to evaluate sites for accessibility in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
