Assist in all election preparations and related tasks. Supervision Received Work under the general supervision of Election Supervisor or Assistant Election Supervisor. May receive functional supervision from Election Clerk II or Lead while in training or on a project‑by‑project basis. Supervision Exercised None.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school with course(s) background in basic office practices and procedures.
  • Some knowledge of basic office practices and procedures; interpersonal communication skills and public relations; modern filing and office systems; computer operations and various software systems.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations; operate a variety of types of standard to complex office equipment; perform under time pressures in meeting work obligations and deadlines; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing using correct spelling and grammar; work productively in a non‑partisan manner; develop effective working relationships with elected officials, public, and fellow employees; deal effectively with stress caused by work load, management/supervisory relationships and time deadlines.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Must be able to type and file accurately
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including some Saturdays
  • The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Work requires the ability to lift/carry objects weighting up to 40 pounds routinely.

Responsibilities

  • Enter and maintain accurate voter registration and other election related data using proprietary election software.
  • Receive and serve public in-person and via phone; assist public in completing voter registrations and early voting; receive and process absentee requests; read and interpret county maps to identify voting precinct and instruct public as to polling locations for appropriate precinct for various elections and jurisdictions.
  • Receive, review, process and file voter registration information according to established procedures; receive and review candidate declarations and petitions to run for office; proof signatures and verify voter and candidate eligibility.
  • Assist in programming, testing and distribution of election equipment and supplies.
  • Perform various tasks essential to the voting process; assist in preparing and auditing ballots, proofing election materials and training election workers in accordance with Idaho Code.
  • Receive on‑the‑job training in more complex and technical aspects of office duties related to conducting and carrying out local, state, and national elections; study election laws and county political organization (districts, jurisdictions, parties, etc.) to better assist the public.
  • Monitor local media publications and save articles contributing to the creation of an ongoing historical record.
  • Monitor local publications and newspapers and maintain record of articles, publications, historical records, obituaries, and related information which may be utilized to verify or update voter records.
  • Perform clerical duties pertaining to county records that may cross departments as requested by the County Clerk.
  • Ability to maintain regular and reliable patterns in work product and attendance according to Bonneville County's expectations.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or required.
