About The Position

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Elec Sys V&V Sr. Engineer to design, develop, and integrate state-of-the-art telematics systems for onboard and digital teams. This role is crucial for continuous improvement efforts, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and services. The engineer will be responsible for testing cutting-edge embedded telematics software and customer applications, working in a team environment utilizing both simulation and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) to test all aspects of the Caterpillar Digital system, including onboard machine features and back-office functionalities. The position involves developing technical skills in software verification, troubleshooting, and test automation. As part of a global team, the engineer will collaborate closely with others to conduct release testing, resolve issues, automate testing, and investigate field issues related to software and electronics. Additionally, the role includes participating in the design and development of next-generation telematics concepts and complex engineering projects for production release, ensuring superior performance, durability, quality, digital connectivity, and serviceability.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or a related field
5 years of experience in embedded software engineering or related occupation
Employment experience with Python and NPI processes
Employment experience with Test automation and standard test documentation
Employment experience with Hardware in-loop (HIL)
Employment experience with Test planning and test execution
Employment experience with Ethernet Datalink Simulation using Vector CANoe

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and integrate state of art telematics systems for onboard and digital teams within Caterpillar
Be responsible for continuous improvement efforts that enable Caterpillar to deliver high quality products and services
Test cutting-edge embedded telematics software and customer applications
Work in a team environment utilizing simulation as well as actual Hardware in the Loop to test all aspects of the Caterpillar Digital system, including both onboard the machine as well as back-office features
Develop technical skills in software verification, troubleshooting, and test automation
Work closely with others to conduct release testing, resolve issues, automate testing, and investigate field issues involving both software and electronics
Participate in the design and development of Next generation telematics concepts and complex engineering projects for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, digital connectivity, and serviceability
