About The Position

Primary Objective: To plan and deliver a program of instruction that meets students’ needs, is consistent with good practice and fulfills the expectations criteria for teachers as identified in the Webster Groves School District teacher evaluation tool. Essential Functions: • Teach subject areas according to curriculum guidelines specified by the school district • Maintain ongoing curriculum evaluation and development to meet the needs of students • Collaborates with other faculty in the delivery of appropriate instructional approaches, working to serve all various learning styles and needs • Implements curriculum and instruction in a manner consistent with District's mission statement • Shows empathy for and understanding of students • Share ideas and observations with students, parents, and colleagues • Develops with parents and students a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and objectivity • Facilitates resolution of problems that might arise with students and parents • Assesses student performance frequently, formatively, and objectively • Continues intellectual and professional development and pursues further education • Follows guidelines and policies established by the Board of Education • Believes in/works well within a middle school teaming philosophy • Utilizes evidence based instructional practices aligned with the science of reading, vocabulary, and writing instruction • Is aware of the needs of adolescent learners and has the ability to authentically engage them in learning • Incorporates innovative and creative lessons, instructional methods, and learning experiences that help students integrate literacy into their lives • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Major or minor in content area required.
  • Requires Missouri teacher certification (English/Communication Arts 9-12)
