English Learner (EL) Interventionist Department: English Learner Bargaining Unit: Grand Rapids Education Association (GREA) Wage: Determined by the collective bargaining agreement and a comprehensive benefits package Direct Supervisor: Executive Director of EL/Cultural Centers/Migrant/Native American JOB SUMMARY Under the supervision of the English Learner (EL) Executive Director, the EL Interventionist is responsible for providing targeted academic second language and grade level supports to eligible EL scholars in all core content areas at GRPS.

Requirements

Valid Michigan teacher's certificate with an ESL endorsement or Bilingual Spanish endorsement
Understanding of working with WIDA and Common State Standards.
Demonstrated understanding of curriculum development processes.
Experience working with at-risk learners and special needs.
Ability to effectively function as a professional team member.
High level organizational skills.
Consistently demonstrated reliable attendance and punctuality.
Possesses high level of communication skills (oral and written).
Must be able to work effectively within a diverse urban community.

Responsibilities

Provide and deliver academic support services to eligible EL scholars
Manage and maintain accurate scholar records
Visit with identified scholars to identify suitable options and help resolve problems.
Develop a positive relationship with scholars and school community and maintain constructive relationships with staff, scholars, and administration.
Interact with co-workers, administration, and scholars in cooperative, supportive, and positive ways.
Participate in district led EL PD (WIDA/ SIOP).
Other duties as assigned.
