About The Position

The EKG technician assists doctors in performing cardiovascular exams on patients. This position is responsible for overseeing, administering, analyzing, and recording tests that require special EKG equipment. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Identify and report critical results to providers. Prepare images and data in a preliminary report in designated reporting system, such as cardiology PACS or EMR system, prior to physician reading the study. Participate in quality improvement activities for the department. Ensure that all patients are calm and relaxed during the process, allowing for quality test output. Monitor equipment throughout the test to ensure equipment is functioning properly. Make appropriate accommodation to 12 lead EKG test, such as perform right sided EKG for suspected right ventricular infarct. Administer cardiac stress testing for exercise and pharmacological stress testing. Apply cardiac rhythm monitoring equipment, Holter monitors/event monitors, and ambulatory mobile telemetry monitors. Explain the function and process of EKG exams to patients prior to the test.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED Required within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Certified EKG Technician
