About The Position

University of Washington Medical Center - Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician. WORK SCHEDULE 0% FTE, per-diem Day Shift DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Located in north Seattle, the Heart Institute at UW Medical Center – Northwest provides a wide range of cardiac services, including early prevention, risk assessment and acute and chronic disease management. Our services include general cardiology, cardiac diagnostic imaging tests and procedures, arrhythmia management and electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, and advanced heart failure management. We emphasize imaging quality by ensuring our dedicated team of sonographers have time to perform a comprehensive examination — including the use of advanced techniques — on every patient. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary training in EKG technology or cardiovascular technology preferred
  • Previous hospital or clinical experience performing EKGs and applying cardiac monitors strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, rhythms, and arrhythmia recognition
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-focused approach
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality electrocardiograms (EKGs) and applying cardiac ambulatory monitors (CAMs) for patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Ensure accurate cardiac data collection for diagnosis and treatment, while providing compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Perform 12-lead EKGs in accordance with physician orders, hospital protocols, and industry standards
  • Apply and instruct patients on the use of cardiac ambulatory monitoring devices/patch monitors (CAMs).
  • Prepare patients by explaining procedures, verifying patient identity, and ensuring comfort and privacy.
  • Perform appropriate workflows to document procedures performed in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Troubleshoot cardiac monitoring equipment to ensure proper functioning before and during use.
  • Transmit and process EKG data for physician interpretation.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment following hospital protocols.
  • Collaborate with nursing, cardiology, and other healthcare teams to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic testing
